Monday’s NCAA selection puts the team at their homecourt McCarthey Athletic Center for their first game. The 12th seed Zags take on 5th seed Iowa State on Saturday.  Coach Kelly Graves says with the other team needing to travel, the Zags will enjoy home court advantage.

Graves: “But that doesn’t guarantee anything other than we’ll have the crowd behind us.  We still have to play well, that’s what it comes down to in these tournaments.

The Zags are 4-0 at home in the last two NCAA tournaments, and in Graves’ 13th year as their coach he hopes to continue those wins.  If the team wins at MAC, they will advance to play the next round at the Spokane Arena.

The Gonzaga men’s team held onto the number one ranking nationwide for the third week in a row on Monday.  The team also received the number one seed in the NCAA West Region - the fourth of four top seeds.

The men play Thursday at 1:00 p.m. local time against 16th seed Southern University, from Louisiana.
