'Bring It On' Brings EWU Grad Back to Spokane

By Paige Browning

Spokane’s West Coast Entertainment is bringing a cheery, high-flying musical production to INB Performing Arts Center Tuesday night. Bring It On the Musical is touring the nation, but tomorrow’s show will be a homecoming for one cast member who studied at Eastern Washington University.
Chailee Friant grew up doing gymnastics in Kent, Washington, and went on to study theater at Eastern. She says this show suits her really well, with both her gymnastics and theater background. During the drive to Spokane this week, Friant spoke with us via cell phone and shared advice for getting cast in a show.
Friant: “This business is hard, and I would just never give up. That was one thing that my directors and professors always said about me, was that I had tenacity.”
She says she’s still in touch with one professor, and spoke to her class about the show. Bring It On the Musical is Friant’s first time traveling with a production. She plays two characters in the ensemble, in between stunts and cheer routines.
The musical is based on the popular movie, themed around the challenges and bonds formed in competition. The show is Tuesday at 7:30pm, at INB in Spokane.
