Join SPR for Bike to Work Week 2014

Riding a bicycle can be a fun way to get to and from work while increasing physical activity, reducing traffic congestion, helping the environment, and even saving money. While the yearly cost of owning and operating a vehicle is over $9,000, or 18 percent of the average household's income, owning and maintaining a bicycle can cost as little as $120 per year.

With more people thinking about the pollution and environmental degradation resulting from automobile transportations as well as a national push to reverse the obesity trend in the United States, bicycle commuting is becoming more popular.

Join the SPR Bike to Work Team as we ditch our four-wheeled vehicles for the week of May 13-19 to get to our jobs at the station by two-wheeled transit. This year, the station will be an official Bike to Work Energizer Station on Wednesday, May 15, so stop by on your morning commute to refuel with Cravens Coffee, snacks, and a chance to win a prize or two.

Spokane Public Radio is an official supporter of Spokane's Bike to Work Week, and healthy living, in general. Visit the Spokane Bikes's website for more information about taking May's Commuter Challenge, Bike to Work Week events, and resources about how to incorporate cycling into a new and improved lifestyle.
