Monroe Street Crew Ahead of Schedule

By Paige Browning

Workers are moving right along on Spokane’s Monroe Street Bridge, and a spokesperson says work is slightly ahead of schedule.

Julie Happy, spokesperson for the city's Business and Developer Services, says the bridge should be open by next Monday, the 17th.  The crew is building infrastructure to reroute stormwater from the Spokane River to a treatment area on the Kendall Yards site.

Happy says the crew has taken advantage of the bridge closure to do additional maintenance, like repainting the light bases.  She says telecommunications provider Century Link was also on site last week.  Traffic is detoured to Washington Street or Maple Street.
