It was a night of surprises at West Coast Entertainment's annual season announcement Monday at the INB Performing Arts Center.  The 2013-2014 Best of Broadway series brings ‘Anything Goes’, ‘Million Dollar Quartet’, ‘Hello Dolly’, ‘Sister Act’, and for three weeks… ‘Wicked’.

The crowd heard live performances from cast members of Sister Act and Million Dollar Quartet.  “I hear the train a-comin’, it’s rollin’ down the bend. And I ain’t seen the sunshine…” played out to the crowd in one of six songs played by Million Dollar Quartet cast members.

Lucas: “I’ve always said that the sole of a community is defined by its arts.  I just so strongly believe that if we were to close our eyes and think about what Spokane would be like if we didn’t have the arts, whether it be Broadway, the symphony, visual arts.  What a different place we would live in.”

Lucas says positive feedback for the new season has blown him away, and more people signed up for season tickets than he’s ever seen at the event. Of course, it’s not just the upcoming season people are excited about. The winner of nine Tony Awards, ‘The Book of Mormon’ will come to Spokane in August 2014.
